This is my natural hair journey with some bits about being vegetarian thrown in the mix. Hope you benefit from this as I could definitely benefit from advice! I got my last relaxer in September 2011 and I did my Big Chop on November 19, 2011 =D
This is EVERYTHING I use for my hair with the exception of my good friend H2O, my spray bottle, and my wide tooth comb.
Cleansing:
I wash my hair once a week with either
- Apple Cider Vinegar rinse (1 part ACV and 2 parts water). This has all but cured my itchy scalp. I have not scratched since I started using it and my hair always feels really clean afterwards. I am sure to rub it into my scalp to really prevent itching. I got this from the Vitamin Shoppe.
- Terressentials Pure Earth Hair Wash. Grab a tiny bit and work it into your scalp and hair and rinse til the water runs clean. I got this online though there is a store in Maryland (my home state) that I will check out someday.
Conditioning:
- In the shower I use my Desert Essence Coconut Conditioner after one of my cleaning methods if the cleansing left it feeling dry. I got this online at the Desert Essence website.
- For deep conditioning I use the Grow and Strengthen Treatment Masque I got from Target. I put it on, comb it through and leave it on for 30 minutes then rinse it out. It’s usually feeling nice and smooth by then. I do this after I wash except for times I do my protein treatment.
Protein Treatment:
- I do this about once every three to four weeks depending on when I feel my hair needs that extra boost. For that I use my GPB conditioner I got from the Vitamin Shoppe.
Sealing/Styling/Moisturizing:
- This is all done with the use of my homemade Shea mixtures. I use the recipe from Whitney aka naptural85 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X3Ok14CgADM&feature=relmfu It came out perfectly the third time I tried :D I got the raw UNREFINED shea butter from butters n’ bars and I love it so far! I just apply either the lighter one or the thicker one to my hair at the time of the styling and spritz my hair with water and maybe touch up with the lighter one (if needed) each day until wash time. Simple!!
- OH and I modified my Denman brush by taking out every other bristle row. It’s much easier on my hair and it makes detangling easier. The Terressentials Hair Wash REALLY helps with detangling by the way. Such a breeze.

Thanks, guys!!
Here you can see the color better!
I’m loving the color but it destroyed my scalp… Tis not worth it for me!
I dyed my hair red and although it did not turn out as light as I wanted it to (scalp problems -__-) I love it!!
I’ll post pictures when I get around to twisting it up.
Btw, my hair has grown so much! I started measurements once a month on the date of my Big Chop and the top of my head has grown to 4 inches! I’m still just as in love with my hair as always.
Later, Tumblees!
Probably something like……..

What do you guys think??
This is the final product you guys!! I got SO many compliments in school. I am loving it. It took about 10-15 minutes to untwist this morning. Not bad at all.

Forgive the flashes of uniform shirt! Blehhhhhh :S
